       TechnoBase Space-A re-discovered malware on the Android platform disguised himself as a system update. Program called UpdtBot NQ has been discovered by Mobile Security Research Center and works by sending a sms text message. In the message contained a link to
a malicious program that is said to be a system upgrade that needs to be done.

      Once the program is installed it will UpdtBot communicate to the remote server to control it. From there the program will be able to send chain letters to other victims, and even make phone calls, download to install additional applications.

      According NQ Mobile, around 160,000 Android devices may have been infected but still not sure how the handset will be used by the controller. This program is estimated to be used for a money game scheme.

     To avoid this, owners of the Android handset should pay attention to in order to install or download applications from trusted place. The program also needs to see reviews and ratings as well as attention to the access permissions before installing an application and considering whether any odd behavior on the handset after an application is installed.
